IT Strategy

The construction of Visaginas Nuclear Power Plant is a complex project with a wide-ranging scope. In order to manage a nearly ten-year project, it is necessary to thoroughly prepare project management plans that will be based on the management procedures and tools. The main among those tools are the information technologies providing the project participants with a shared user environment.

It has been prepared the Information Technologies (IT) Strategy to be applied during the stages of the preparatory works and selection of technologies. In the course of preparation of the IT Strategy, the demand for the IT tools during the implementation of the mentioned stages was assessed on a basis of the experience gained from similar projects currently underway in other countries and according to the IAEA recommendations.

The demand for the information technologies during the stage of the preparatory works is mainly related with a shared user environment of all project participants oriented towards communication, management of projects and documents.

The Information Technologies Strategy is implemented by carrying out the IT projects, i.e. by developing the IT architecture, setting policy for information security, etc.

The Strategy and its implementation plan are subject to regular revisions and updates.
